Contract Options
Therapeutic placement is rarely a straight line. Dr. Cohen offers three contract options designed to reflect the reality that the process unfolds over time — and how much support your family needs depends on where your loved one ends up and how the journey progresses.
All contracts include: clinical intake, contact with prior professionals, record review, initial program recommendation, transportation coordination if needed, and regular contact with the program therapist.

About Each Option
Three-Month Contract
Covers only the beginning of the therapeutic treatment process — getting to the first program. Some participants benefit significantly from an initial Outdoor Behavioral Health program lasting 8–12 weeks, and for a small number of families that is sufficient. Dr. Cohen has found this to be rare. For families who need a second program, this contract typically ends right as that planning would begin. Selection of a second program, goodness-of-fit conversations, and transportation support are not included.
Six-Month Contract
Covers the initial process, the first placement, the selection of a Residential Treatment Center or Therapeutic Boarding School, goodness-of-fit conversations, interview coordination, and transportation. Additionally, the initial months of the second program, transition challenges, and communication with the new therapist typically fall within the six-month contract. Family visits, home visits, discharge planning, and “turns 18” scenarios are not included.
Twelve-Month Contract
Most Recommended
The twelve-month contract often covers all Therapeutic Placement needs. The initial process takes place, placement recommendations are made, and the individual attends the initial placement. If a transition is needed, the second placement recommendation is made, transportation can be arranged, and Dr. Cohen continues to connect with the primary therapist throughout. Consultations for family visits, home visits, and discharge planning typically occur within the first 12 months.
